Scruton Sky at Night – June 2021
Lighter nights make for difficult viewing, and some of my suggested viewings of late have been thwarted by cloudy skies.
Hopefully the main event in June should not cause a problem, and this is the partial solar eclipse on 10 June. This will be the largest eclipse in the UK for the last 6 years, and around a third of the sun should be obscured. First contact is around 10am and Last contact about 12.30am. Hopefully we may have clear skies for the event.
A safe way to view the eclipse is to project an image onto a card using either a pinhole in a card or binoculars held in the hand (see below). Check out full instructions online if you are unsure.
