Village Picnic

Rishi Sunak at Scruton Vikkage PicnicA Village Picnic – was held on the Playing Field on 4 September. It was the first proper get-together villagers have enjoyed since Covid struck. The overcast and threatening skies didn’t deter folk from enjoying themselves, even our local MP Rishi Sunak joined in the fun! Tombola, cake and home-grown produce stalls proved popular and together with a Grand Raffle raised an amazing £3,091 on the day, which will be topped up with a further £1,000 of ‘matched funding’ from Barclays Bank, all in aid of village funds.

A Harvest Festival – on 19 September also took place on the Playing Field. The outdoor service, conducted by Paul Chubb, was well attended with much enthusiastic singing!

A Newcomers’ Welcome Afternoon – took place later that same day and was another success with around 80 villagers ‘old & new’ coming together in warm, sunny weather to meet and greet and get to know each other.
